How to Measure Mecho Shades:Decide first how you will be Mounting the shade.
TOP MOUNT A Top Mount (Mounts on Ceiling or Inside Top of Window frame) Requires a minimum of 2 1/2” of inside depth to install the brackets and 3 1/4” to finish flush to the wall for the Mecho5. The MechoSuburban requires 2 1/4” of inside depth to install the brackets and 2 3/4” finish flush to the wall. See chart below. Width is the outside of Bracket to outside of Bracket measurement. The shadecloth will actually be about 1 1/2” narrower than the Bracket to Bracket Measurement.. (1 1/4” on the side with the cord control and 1/4” on the other side). Enter the desired Bracket to Bracket measurement on the order form for width.
We do NOT make deduction and will make blind this exact width. If it is going between jams and you need a cushion for clearance we recommend deducting 3/8” from tight actual width to get this bracket to bracket blind width.
The length is as you specify from top of headbox to bottom of shade fabric when fully lowered.
Mecho Shade brackets are not designed to be Side Mounted! WALL MOUNT (Back or Face Mount) A Wall Mount (Back or Face Mount) the shade will hang outside the actual window frame, over lapping the window frame enough to cover for maximum privacy and light blockage. Where possible, we recommend 3 to 4 inches of overlap on each side.
How to Measure: - Print out the Easy Measuring Guide form to write down your measurements.
- Use a metal tape measure and measure to the nearest 1/8”.
- Inside Mount Width: measure the exact inside width between side jams where you want the brackets to be placed – usually the top of the window. Write the measurement down on the Easy Measuring Guide then measure and re check your number. THE SHADE WILL COME THAT EXACT WIDTH OUTSIDE OF BRACKET TO OUTSIDE OF BRACKET.
- Outside mounts width – there is a gap between edge of bracket to edge of fabric (1 ¼” on control side and ¼” on idle end). We recommend that you overlap your window by 3 to 4 inches on each side for maximum coverage. Mark the outside edges of where you would like to place the brackets and provide that width. Again measure, write it down, then measure again to check what you measured and wrote.
- Length: Measure the length you would like the shade from top of bracket to bottom of fabric when fully lowered. Write the length down then re-measure and recheck what you measured and wrote.
